Where to Take Ballet Classes in the Summer

During the summer months, many schools and companies offer dance lessons to children who are interested in ballet. These classes are held in a variety of places, from the Joffrey Ballet in New York to the Manhattan Youth Ballet.

Manhattan Youth Ballet

Whether you are an experienced dancer or just starting out, the Manhattan Youth Ballet Summer Intensive is a three-week program designed to keep you in shape and improve your dancing skills. The program features top-notch faculty, special guests, and a variety of dance styles.

The program includes daily ballet technique, jazz, and pointe classes. In addition, there are daily Pilates and conditioning classes. The MYB Summer Intensive also features guest artists from across the country. The Intensive culminates with a performance in the MYB Home Theater.

The three-week Intensive is open to intermediate and advanced pre-professional students. The program features three graded levels. In addition, students attending only one or two weeks may be invited to participate in the rehearsal process as an understudy.

The Manhattan Youth Ballet Summer Intensive is an opportunity to see some of the best in the business. The faculty includes former Kirov dancers, members of the New York City Ballet, and former members of the Carolina Ballet.

Princeton Ballet School

Whether you’re an adult looking to take some ballet classes or a child seeking some fun classes for summer, you can find a variety of options at the Princeton Ballet School. Located in Princeton and Cranbury, the school offers dance classes in both physical and academic settings. The dance school’s curriculum promotes self-discipline, self-esteem, and a strong fitness level.

The dance school’s curriculum also includes an art class, a choreography class, and BioMechanics/Conditioning sessions. Students learn dance composition, anatomy, and performance skills.

The Princeton Ballet School’s Summer Intensive program attracts top dance students from around the world. This year, the school attracted over 100 students. The program is designed to provide advanced students with the tools they need to become professional dancers. The intensive includes a three-week rehearsal period.

Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet

Founded in 1955, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) is a nationally recognized classical ballet school with an emphasis on artistic aplomb and clarity of technique. It has developed a curriculum that inspires lives through classical ballet. Its mission is to introduce young children to classical ballet and to build futures filled with promise.

CPYB is located in CARLISLE, PA. The school is a non-profit organization. It is located on the Dickinson College campus. Its mission is to provide young people with a classical ballet education that enriches their lives and strengthens the unity of their fellow citizens.

Its performance schedule includes George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker (TM) in December and Cinderella in April. The school also offers a 5-Week Summer Ballet Program.

A new CPYB program, Teen Night at the Ballet, is in its second year. It will feature a two-part ballet that highlights teen artists, including dancers, musicians, writers, and choreographers.

Joffrey

During the summer, the Joffrey Ballet School offers a variety of summer ballet camps and programs. Students can participate in dance classes, creative movement camps, and musical theater camps. The Joffrey summer ballet programs are designed to give students a chance to study under some of the most renowned dance instructors in the world.

The Joffrey Academy offers auditions for its professional training programs. To be eligible for an audition, you must be aged seven to twenty-one years old. In addition, students must submit an audition video. Online pre-registration closes on Sunday before each audition.

The Joffrey Summer Ballet Intensive is a great way to gain experience in classical ballet and pointe work, as well as modern and contemporary techniques. The program concludes with a performance at a local New York City theater.

New Ballet School

Located in Silicon Valley, California, the New Ballet School for summer ballet offers a full day of training. The program features the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum, corrections, and individual attention.

This long-standing, renowned ballet school offers intensives and programs for students of all ages. The program offers classes in classical ballet and contemporary ballet variations. It features internationally renowned faculty and offers auditions for Studio Company.

Students ages 7 to 14 attend Creative Dance Summer, which focuses on creative movement and body awareness. They learn ballet stories and develop their motor coordination, balance, and strength. They meet for 45 minutes each week.

Students age 15 and older can apply for the Pre-Professional Ballet Intense program. It runs from August 1-August 19 and is ideal for pre-professional students ages 14-25. The program includes one-on-one meetings with the Dean, faculty, and special guest choreographers. It also offers technique classes, faculty discussions, and college information.
